Kyiv, May 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has called on the government to adhere to the Ukrainian constitution when considering making changes to the leadership of the State Property Fund.
"Dismissing the head of the State Property Fund or appointing someone to the post - according to the constitution - is in the competence of Ukraine's parliament. Nobody will change this law, and I oblige all sides in the conflict today, to follow only the constitution," he said in an interview with the journalists in Borodianka (Kyiv region) on Monday.
The president also said "the illegal dismissal or appointment of the head of the State Property Fund is a burden on the whole privatization effort".
"This discredits the work of Ukraine, the Ukrainian authorities, and cuts the value of objects that are privatized under conditions of such a conflict," Yuschenko said.
