Yuschenko lays flowers at Savur-Tomb memorial complex, gives awards to veterans

Kyiv, May 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has participated in events dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War at the Savur-Tomb memorial complex in the town of Snizhne, Donetsk region.

The presidential press service reported that the head of state laid flowers at the Memorial Stele to those lost in an assault on Savur-Tomb, near the Cross to the innocent victims of the war and near the Eternal Flame.

Participants in the events included Parliamentary Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk, National Security and Defense Council Secretary Raisa Bohatyriova and Presidential Secretariat Deputy Head Yuriy Bohutsky.

The president also presented 14 awards to war veterans.
