Kyiv, May 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The People's Self-Defense group of the Our Ukraine–People's Self-Defense Bloc has demanded that Presidential Secretariat Head Viktor Baloha be dismissed.
"The government and the democratic coalition are becoming more and more obviously hostages of the destructive politics of the secretariat of the president headed by Viktor Baloha," Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, the head of the People's Self-Defense movement, said at a briefing on Monday.
Lutsenko said he had had a five-hour talk on the matter with President Viktor Yuschenko.
As the talk has not yielded the dismissal of Baloha, it is obvious that the reaction of Yuschenko to the proposal was negative, Lutsenko said.
"That is why I come out with this open statement by the People's Self-Defense, which believes, as the leadership of the Our Ukraine does, that the further work of Baloha at the post is most destructive and threatening for the further work of the democratic coalition," Lutsenko said.
