Kyiv, June 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has returned to the Verkhovna Rada a draft law on amendments to the Law on customs tariffs, in which most norms are brought into conformity with WTO requirements, though there were exceptions on some provisions, reads the presidential Web site.
"I return a law for second submission to the Verkhovna Rada… in view of the serious violations of Ukraine's international agreements that the law's provisions include," reads the statement of the president to MPs concerning the veto.
As was reported earlier, MPs on June 3 deferred import duty charges on some trade items, such as bones, minced meat and poultry, cars with engines of 1 liter to 2.2 liters, chocolate and wine products, until January 1, 2009.
