More than 400,00 students win right to enter universities in Ukraine through external testing, says education minister

Kyiv, June 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) - More than 400,000 people in Ukraine have received more than 124 points in independent external tests of knowledge and received the right to enter higher education institutions, Education and Science Minister Ivan Vakarchuk said at a press conference in the Interfax-Ukraine agency on Thursday.

"For the first time, we have a list of all the people with the right to become a student solely by their knowledge, and this list is not small - more than 400,000 of people passed the barrier of 124 points. So there will be no problems with the filling institutes, because the state order is 145,000 places," he said.

The maximum number of points is 200 for each subject, which two people from Kyiv and two from Lviv region, one from the Crimea achieved. Besides, 54 participants received 200 points on two out of three subjects, including eleven from Kyiv, six from Rivne region, and five from Lviv.

Vakarchuk said, that 512,000 people at the age from 17 to 82 registered for the tests. In total, students submitted 997,897 test papers ranging over 11 subjects. Certificates on test results in Ukrainian language and literature, Ukrainian history and mathematics were issued by June 11. Special certificates will be made and presented after June 18.
