Wizz Air Ukraine (Kyiv), the subsidiary of Hungary's Wizz Air low-cost air carrier, is intending in May 2009 to cancel the Kyiv-Lviv and Lviv-London flights, according to a press release of the company.
The flight to London will be cancelled from May 1, and the flight to Kyiv from May 11.
The company said it was cancelling the flight as the Kyiv-Lviv route is not in demand.
"Currently the companies working on the Lviv-Kyiv route satisfy the demand. We had to review our plans due to high airport fees and no confirmation that the airport wants to assist in our potential growth. It is important to understand that fees in Lviv are nearly the same as those at Boryspil, and the market here is smaller," the press release reads, citing Natalia Kazmer, a member of the Wizz Air Ukraine's council of directors.
At the same time, the company is intending from June 13 to increase the number of flights on a number of domestic and international routes. The number of flights on the Kyiv-Simferopol route will be increased from seven flights a week to 14 flights a week, on the Lviv-Simferopol route to two flights a week, on the Kyiv-Katowice route from three to four flights a week, and on the Kyiv-Dortmund route from three to six flights a week. The number of flights on the Kyiv-Antalya route will be increased from three to seven flights a week.
