Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has signed a law amending Article 21 of the law on adverting regarding banning the advertising of non-medicinal goods with claimed curative properties.
The law was approved by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, on June 4 and comes into effect from the day it is published.
The law restricts advertising non-medicinal goods with claimed curative properties that have not been approved by the Health Ministry, and also bans the advertising of a number of such goods.
In particular, the law reads that while advertising non-medicinal goods, medical equipment, preventive measures, diagnostics, and rehabilitation means, it is illegal to refer to the medical properties of the goods if they have not been approved under legislation by the special central executive authorities on health issues.
