The Transport and Communications Ministry of Ukraine from October 16, 2009, until April 1, 2010, will introduce discounts of 20-40% for the transit of certain goods in nine maritime merchant ports of Ukraine, according to the ministry's press service.
Discounts for transit will be introduced at Illichivsk, Kerch, Mariupol, Reni, Ust-Dunaisk, Kherson, Odesa, Berdiansk, and Yuzhny ports.
"Implementing attractive tariffs for transit at Ukrainian maritime ports, we have created favorable terms for transit companies," First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Vasyl Shevchenko said, commenting on the decision.
The discounts apply to such cargos as iron ore, grain, coal, and ferrous metals.
