Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has suspended a cabinet resolution of September 10, 2008, which delegated additional powers to export and import certain military goods and goods of state secret to Kyiv-based TASKO-export foreign trade firm.
The president signed the relevant decree on Monday, the presidential press service has reported.
Yuschenko said that the cabinet resolution is not in line with key principles of the state policy in the military and technical cooperation sphere, it considerably complicates the implementation of state export controls, and creates conditions for breaches in security and violations of international commitments of Ukraine linked with transfer of ordinary types of weapon, which is a threat to the national security of Ukraine.
The president added that the resolution is not in line with article 17 of the Ukrainian Constitution, according to which the provision of economic security is one of the key functions of the state.
The decree comes into effect from the moment of its publication.
