Wage arrears in January fell by 20%, Deputy Labor and Social Policy Minister Pavlo Rozenko has reported.
"We had a very difficult situation at the beginning of the year, when wage arrears sharply grew," he said at a press conference in Kyiv.
According to Rozenko, as of December 1, 2009, wage arrears were UAH 1.7 billion.
At the same time, Rozenko said that by the end of January the total wage arrears fell by 20% and are currently UAH 1.36 billion.
Speaking about economically active state enterprises, he said that 300,000 employees of such enterprises are owned back wages.
