Ukraine to import gas worth $700 m in March, premier says

National JSC Naftogaz Ukrainy is planning in March 2010 to import natural gas worth about $700 million, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said at a meeting with Head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Ukraine Jose Manuel Pintu Teixeira.

"We have to pay about $ 700 million for Russian gas," Azarov said.

As reported, Naftogaz Ukrainy in January to February 2010 imported 4.6 billion cubic meters of gas, including 2.05 billion cubic meters in February.

In the first quarter of 2010 the price of imported Russian gas grew to $305.68 per 1,000 cubic meters compared to $208.12 per 1,000 cubic meters in the fourth quarter and $198.34 per 1,000 cubic meters in the third quarter of 2009.
