Parliament adopts law on organization of statistical observation

The Ukrainian parliament has adopted a law on the organization of statistical observation, with a total of 354 out of 435 MPs registered in the hall voting in favor.

The law says that all economic entities, including separate subdivisions of legal entities with separate accounts, are obliged to conduct the primary registration of results, draw up and submit statistics and other data according to Ukrainian law, keep records and submit financial reports.

Demanding that economic entities and separate subdivisions of legal entities with separate accounts submit statistics and other data not foreseen in the law, or violating a procedure set by the law, is banned.

The law also foresees that the register of respondents of statistics observation is an automated information statistics data selection, accumulation and processing system, which provides a selection of groups of respondents under certain criteria for statistical observation.

The law says that a long-term program on the development of state statistics is to be drawn up for five years.

A specially authorized central executive power body in the statistics sphere, jointly with other power bodies, the National Bank of Ukraine and interested companies and organizations, annually draws up a plan for state statistical observation.

The law foresees that the long-term program on the development of state statistics and a plan on state statistical observation is approved by the Ukrainian cabinet.
