The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, took into consideration the proposals of Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko when voting to approve the law "On amending the law of Ukraine on grapes and grape wine."
A total of 301 MPs out of the 421 registered in the parliament's session hall backed the said law on Thursday.
The president earlier returned the law to parliament, proposing to exclude vermouth and brandy from coverage by the law.
According to the president, the changes proposed by the law could establish unclear criteria for declaring certain products as counterfeit alcohol, thus creating favourable conditions for the appearance on the Ukrainian market of dangerous counterfeit alcoholic drinks labelled as vermouth or brandy.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine also took into consideration these proposals of the president and excluded these items from the law.
