German low-cost carrier Germanwings to launch Cologne/Bonn-Kyiv on May

Germany-based low-cost carrier Germanwings is to launch a regular Cologne/Bonn-Kyiv flight as of May 16, the company's press service reported on Friday.

According to the report, flights are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on board an Airbus A319 with departure from Cologne at 1100 and arrival in Kyiv at 1500 The return flight is scheduled for 1600 from Kyiv to Cologne/Bonn with arrival at 1730 or 1745 depending on the day of the week.

Online ticket booking at the company's Web site is available as of Friday, March 6.

Special March 8 (International Women's Day) offers includes booking one out of 200,000 tickets offered by the airlines for its own flights at a price of EUR 19.99.

As was reported, Germanwings announced plans to enter the Ukrainian air transportation market early in June 2008. At that time, the company submitted an application to the State Aviation Administration of Ukraine for the right to carry out a flight between Kyiv and Cologne/Bonn.

Germanwings was founded in 2002. Its fleet consists of 25 Airbus 319 and Airbus 320 aircraft. The company performs flights to Western and Eastern Europe, as well as to cities in Russia – Moscow and St. Petersburg. Its home airport is Cologne, Germany.
