The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has proposed to restrict the consumption and sale of low-alcohol drinks.
Some 384 peoples' deputies voted to take as a basis a draft law amending the Law of Ukraine on the State Regulation of Ethyl, Cognac and Fruit Spirit, Alcohol Drinks and Tobacco Production and Turnover.
Presenting the draft law, one of it authors, Vice Speaker Mykola Tomenko (the BYT faction), said the draft law included low-alcohol drinks and beer in alcohol drinks.
The draft law also restricts the sale of alcoholic drinks to persons under 18 years old.
In addition, it is proposed to ban the consumption of alcoholic drinks on public transport, on the territory of children's areas, in educational, health care institutions, and to restrict their places of sale.
