Ukrainian government, the European Commission, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the World Bank, have signed a joint declaration at an international investment conference on the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transit system.
For Ukraine, the document was signed by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, for the European Commission by Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Commissioner for Energy Andris Piebalgs, for the EIB by President Philippe Maystadt, for the EBRD by First Vice President Varel Freeman, and for the World Bank by Martin Raiser.
The signing ceremony took place at the conference in Brussels on Monday, in the presence of European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko.
