Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko is confident that the agreements reached at an international investment conference on modernizing Ukraine's gas transit system held on March 23, 2009 are paving the way for the prospect of the development of Ukraine's gas transportation system for years to come.
He made a statement to that effect in an interview with the Czech Hospodarske noviny newspaper on Tuesday, the presidential press service reported.
Moreover, Yuschenko told about the policy of Ukraine's integration into the European Union and efforts to seek for NATO membership.
He also touched upon the development of Ukrainian-Czech relations and the period in history when the Czech Republic became shelter for many Ukrainians who fled from their country after the occupation of the Ukrainian People's Republic in 1921.
In addition, the president highlighted Ukraine's cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and conditions for Ukraine to acquire the second tranche of the IMF loan.
