UEFA's Executive Committee on Tuesday praised Ukraine and Poland's preparations for the Euro 2012 European Football Championship at a meeting in Copenhagen.
"Nobody is talking about changing the venue anymore. Stadium construction is going ahead," German broadcaster Deutsche Welle reported, quoting the committee's vice president, Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, as saying after the meeting.
However, he said that Poland had surged ahead of Ukraine in road construction and also pointed to Ukraine's problems with its lack of hotels.
Executive committee member Franz Beckenbauer, who coordinated the organization of the FIFA World Cup in Germany in 2006, said that the committee had received a very positive report about the state of preparations in Ukraine and Poland.
President of the German Football Federation Theo Zwanziger criticized the spread of rumors that Ukraine could be deprived of its right to co-host Euro 2012 with Poland.
UEFA President Michel Platini is to travel to the two co-hosts in April to get a first-hand view of the preparations in the two countries.
