The head of the parliamentary committee on European integration, Borys Tarasiuk, says he hopes that the free trade zone talks between Ukraine and European Union end successfully this year.
"I hope these talks [on free trade zone formation] end well this year," he said during an international conference entitled "A free trade zone between Ukraine and EU as an instrument of European integration and internal reforms," in Kyiv on Thursday.
He said that the success of the talks would affect how soon the association agreements between the two countries are signed.
Tarasiuk added that the formation of a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union is a key strategic aim of Kyiv.
"We hope that it [the free trade zone] would aid Ukraine's integration into the domestic market of the European Union," he added.
