The Ukrainian Interior Ministry's collegium has demanded an end to any "political speculation" over the ministry, which infringes the dignity of its employees and veterans, and humiliates the Ukrainian state in general, according to a statement by the ministry's collegium sent to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
The statement noted that Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko had asked the government and parliament to accept his resignation. He explained him move by the use of "dirty tricks" in Ukraine aimed at discrediting not only him as a politician, but also his family, and many thousands of Ukrainian policemen.
"The Interior Ministry's collegium is obliged to state that amidst the political hysteria produced by political opponents against Yuriy Lutsenko, there are practically no views from sober-minded politicians calling on their colleagues to make conclusions and take decisions only on the basis of official documents about the incident in Germany that became the basis for the accusations against the minister," reads the statement.
