The Constitutional Court has ruled that the decision by the Verkhovna Rada to hold the presidential elections on October 25, 2009, is illegal, a number of Ukrainian media outlets said, citing their own sources.
The court issued this ruling by the majority of votes on Tuesday, the media said.
The Constitutional Court also ruled that the provisions of Article 17 of the presidential election law, which were used in setting the presidential election date for October 25, were unconstitutional, sources said.
The Constitutional Court will publish the ruling at 1500 on Wednesday.
