NATO wants Ukraine to intensify work in three directions: to stabilize the political situation, to increase the funding for the security and defense sector, and to inform citizens more actively about the Alliance.
These are NATO's remarks regarding Kyiv, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko told Ukrainian reporters in Brussels on Wednesday.
"The first proposal is to go through the period of internal political turbulence in Ukraine quickly and to embark on a path of stable and quiet political development that will ensure stained movement, including along NATO lines," he said.
The next moment is the proposal to quickly start financing the defense and security sectors, the minister said.
"It is a very important issue. Even though serious steps have been made in this direction, large financial support is needed for the defense ministry, and for the security sector in general. Therefore, this issue is difficult," Ohryzko said.
The third moment is, he said, that the public should be better informed about NATO and "a larger amount of open and honest information should be provided about the Alliance, which is envisioned in the program the cabinet adopted until 2012," he said.
