Russia issued comments on Wednesday on plans by Ukraine to form a strategic group for Ukrainian-Russian relations and appoint an envoy for relations with Russia.
"We follow the principle that any practical moves and measures aimed at the positive development and improvement of Russian-Ukrainian relations should be hailed. We will be watching further practical actions by our Ukrainian partners with interest," Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said in a commentary posted on the ministry website.
"We, for our part, can confirm that there is an unchangeable desire in Moscow for constructive, pragmatic and responsible interaction with Ukraine on the entire range of bilateral and international problems, including via the current mechanisms of the Russian-Ukrainian Intergovernmental Commission and via intergovernmental dialogue," he said.
