Members of the Communist Party of Ukraine (CPU) have no intention of entering the government of Premier Yuliya Tymoshenko, according to CPU deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov.
"We have no intention of entering the government", the MP told the press at the parliament on Wednesday, when asked what posts CPU representatives might obtain in exchange for electing Volodymyr Lytvyn, leader of the eponymous bloc, as speaker.
Kilinkarov said it was necessary to unblock the parliament's work.
"Electing the parliament chairman and forming a coalition should have been done separately. There is no connection [between them]", he said.
However, according to the MP, there is a direct connection between forming the coalition and electing the prime minister of Ukraine.
Kilinkarov noted that CPU's involvement in the cabinet was conditional on the party's involvement in a parliament coalition.
"We have no intention of entering a coalition containing nationalistic political forces. We shall not do that, and I am sure such a decision will not be taken", the deputy said.
