Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has called for a mechanism of refinancing to be drafted and budget support to be provided to complete the construction of almost finished housing.
He announced this at a meeting with constructors, involving National Bank of Ukraine Chairman Volodymyr Stelmakh and Presidential Secretariat First Deputy Head Oleksandr Shlapak, on Wednesday.
Yuschenko stressed the need to introduce the mechanism for completing the construction of this kind of housing and accumulate funds from the domestic market for this goal.
"It is currently necessary to find funds to save buildings with a high degree of readiness," he said.
Shlapak, in turn, said that UAH 1 billion could be raised for this goal under guarantees of the Finance Ministry.
He said that if this investment were to be attracted, the construction of 250,000 square meters of housing or 4,000 flats would be completed.
