Ukraine, Poland to build eight border checkpoints

Ukraine and Poland have stressed the need to step up joint efforts to build eight new checkpoints on their joint border, the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

Members from the joint council of the Ukrainian and Polish foreign ministries discussed the further relaxation of the rules for crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border by citizens from the two countries at a meeting in Warsaw, the press service said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko said the implementation of this project is important in the context of hosting the Euro 2012 European Football Championship finals by Ukraine and Poland.
