Ukraine's parliament increases this year's budget by UAH 13 billion for pensioners

The Verkhovna Rada has passed a government bill on amendments to the state budget for 2008 about the provision of an additional UAH 5.2 billion for advance financing of pensions in January of 2009 and UAH 1.4 billion to raise the minimum pensions for coal miners.

A total of 226 MPs of 440 ones registered at the hall voted to pass this decision.

The bill was supported by one MP of the Regions Party, 153 MPs of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko, 66 MPs of the Our Ukraine-People's Self-Defense Bloc, 26 communists and all 20 members of the Bloc of Lytvyn.
