Kazakh Ambassador to Ukraine and Moldova Amangeldy Zhumabaev voiced hope that the appointment of Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn to the speaker's post would boost the development of inter-parliamentary relations while speaking at a meeting with Lytvyn on Friday, the Verkhovna Rada press service has reported.
He called for more active work by the friendship groups in the parliaments of both countries, adding, that unfortunately, this activity has recently been suspended. In turn, Lytvyn, supported the need to renew dialog at the inter-parliamentary level and invited Kazakh MPs to make a working visit to Ukraine.
Zhumabaev noted Ukraine is one of the main trade partners of Kazakhstan. At the same time, both sides mentioned the importance of sharing experience in overcoming the finance-economic crisis at the legislative level.
As for the domestic political situation in Ukraine, Lytvyn said there was a need to hold a continuing dialog at all levels of power to lessen the impact of the financial and economic crisis. Among the core tasks facing the Verkhovna Rada, he named the passing of the 2009 state budget.
