Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has formed a committee on economic reform as an advisory agency under the head of state, and appointed himself its head.
A decree to that effect was signed on Friday, the presidential press service reported.
First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Iryna Akimova was appointed the committee's executive secretary.
The committee's major goals are to draft, on the basis of the best international experience, a national strategy of economic reform aimed at implementing Yanukovych's election platform, entitled "Ukraine for the People."
The committee's staff is approved by the Ukrainian president under a motion from the executive secretary.
