Ukrainian Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko and the foreign ministers of a number of European Union countries have agreed on the start of joint work on a roadmap for a visa-free regime with the EU, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry's press service reported on Tuesday.
Agreement on the work was reached in Budapest at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group (the Czch Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), the Baltic countries, the Eastern Partnership countries, Spain, and Belgium, involving the leaders of the European Commission and the Ukrainian foreign minister, the press service said.
"The achievement during [Poroshenko's] visit of a fundamental agreement on the start of joint work on a roadmap for the visa-free regime between Ukraine and the EU deserves special attention," the press service reported.
During their meeting, the sides discussed progress made in fulfilling the goals of the Eastern Partnership initiative and ways to further develop the initiative.
