Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych has described the dismissal of the government lead by Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko as a progress on the path of reforming the system of power.
"In any case, this is an onward movement. Because Tymoshenko, in fact, blocked the process of the formation of an efficient system of power," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Tymoshenko is always ready to put anyone at fault, but is reluctant to bear personal responsibility for the government, the president said.
Yanukovych described the time of Timoshenko's premiership, in particular the latest two years, as a devastating loss for the authority of the state, both in domestic and foreign policy.
The head of state recalled Chile, where an earthquake and a tsunami resulted in a 15% contraction of the GDP." "Ukraine's GDP decreased last year by the same percent. We had neither tsunami nor earthquake. This was Tymoshenko's policy that swept through Ukraine like a tsunami," he said.
