President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Serhiy Bubka has said the results of the Ukrainians Olympic team during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver were expected.
"This result was expected… although I expected there would be medals. On the whole, if we look at the performances, we'll see that some more sportsmen produced results lower than their middle level," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Thursday.
Asked about a possibility of his being appointed to the post of family, youth and sports minister of Ukraine, Bubka said he has neither the strength nor the abilities for this.
"Here [at the post of NOC president] I just understand and know my business, I know my abilities and my potential. That's why if I have neither the desire, nor the interest in heading the ministry, moreover, at present this ministry is for family, youth and sport - not just sport - so objectively, I'm not suitable as the candidate," he said.
The Ukrainian Olympic team failed to win any medals during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
