Ukraine's President Viktor Yanukovych has said he doesn't plan to replace head of the National Bank Volodymyr Stelmakh in the near future.
"I don't plan at this stage to replace the NBU head," Yanukovych said at a meeting with the government on Friday.
At the same time the president asked Prime Minister Mykola Azarov not to make statements about candidacies for this post.
As reported, on Thursday, Azarov said replacement of NBU head had not been considered yet.
"There are several candidacies [for the post of NBU head], but I will not name them," he said, and added the issue of the future NBU leadership has not been considered yet.
