The parliamentary faction of the Communist Party of Ukraine will vote against the admission in Ukraine of military subunits from NATO member states and the holding of Sea Breeze 2010 international exercises if such a bill is submitted for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, party leader Petro Symonenko has said.
The party's press service quoted Symonenko as saying on Monday that the party was drafting an address to the Ukrainian president and supreme commander-in-chief, Viktor Yanukovych, to demand that he observe his election promises, in particular, regarding Ukraine's status as a non-aligned and neutral status.
As reported, a new coalition of the Regions Party, the Communist Party, the Bloc of Lytvyn and individual MPs was formed in parliament on March 11. The coalition includes 235 MPs.
Sea Breeze exercises, which have been held in Ukraine since 1997, had been cancelled in previous years.
