Tomenko: Opposition will try to dismiss Tabachnyk at start of new session

The opposition forces will try to dismiss Dmytro Tabachnyk as Ukraine's education and science minister at the beginning of the new session of parliament, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Chairman Mykola Tomenko said at a press conference in Lviv on Wednesday.

"On March 29, we will support a bill by the For Ukraine! group on Tabachnyk's dismissal so that this issue is considered in parliament between March 30 and April 2," he said.

Tomenko noted that support from the Bloc of Lytvyn would be required to get the 226 votes needed for Tabachnyk's dismissal.

"If the Bloc of Lytvyn does not vote, then we won't have 226 votes. Therefore, we'll now convince the deputies of this faction to vote for our draft resolution," he said.

Asked which of the current ministers the opposition may try to dismiss, Tomenko said that Interior Minister Anatoliy Mohyliov could become another candidate.
