The Crimean branch of the Emergencies Ministry has warned residents and guests of the peninsula that a state of emergency has been introduced due to the high risk of forest fires.
The fire risk of is still very high, despite the numerous preventive measures taken by various organizations to protect forests from fire, the press service of the main department of the Emergencies Ministry's branch in Crimea said on Monday.
According to rescuers, the largest number of fires was registered outside Yalta. These were mostly due to the very hot weather and drought, although human carelessness was also a factor in some cases.
The Emergencies Ministry warned that there will continue to be a high fire risk throughout Crimea, and it called on the locals and tourists to comply with fire safety rules while they are in forested areas.
