The Crimean parliament has set the next election of deputies to the Crimean Supreme Council for October 31, 2010.
Seventy-four deputies voted for the decision at an extraordinary session of the Crimean Supreme Council on Wednesday, and four rejected it. A total of 90 deputies participated in the vote.
Under its decision, the Crimean Supreme Council proposed that the republican organizations of political parties in Crimea represented in the Ukrainian parliament of the current convocation submit their candidates to the Crimean election commission no later than 49 days before Election Day, in accordance with Article 22 of the Ukrainian law on the election of deputies to the Crimean Supreme Council, local councils and the election of the heads of villages, towns, and cities.
The Crimean parliament also ordered the standing commission of the Crimean Supreme Council on deputy ethics, the organization of the parliament's work and the media, to prepare a draft decision of the Crimean Parliament on approving the staff of the Crimean election commission, taking into account the proposals received from the republican organizations of political parties in Crimea.
