Tigipko: government's working group to complete draft tax code on Thursday

The working group under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will complete the draft tax code on Thursday, Vice Prime Minister Sergiy Tigipko told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.

So far, proposals for the draft code have been made by representatives of investors, and large, medium and small businesses, the vice premier said

"We are making the final corrections, and tomorrow at 1530, we will discuss the document with members of a relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada. And we will come up with a basis [of the code]," the press service of the Tigipko-led Strong Ukraine party quoted the politician as saying on Wednesday.

According to Tigipko, the final version of the code will have a mechanism for refunding exporters, the procedure for accounting enterprises' income tax will become closer to that of business accounting, and tax rules for banks and financial institutions will be closer to European standards. Rules that discriminate against small business will be removed.

The working group will table the completed draft tax code with the government, so that at the beginning of September the document can be submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, the vice premier said.

"I am confident that lawmakers will vote for this good, quality document," he added.
