Speaker of the Crimean parliament, Volodymyr Konstantinov, says that there is a very good chance of implementing a program for Crimea's development, a concept of which was considered on Tuesday in Simferopol at a meeting chaired by the president on the development of the autonomy.
Konstantinov announced this at a press conference in Simferopol on Wednesday.
According to him, the participants in the meeting worked out a mechanism for the regional development of Crimea.
"A large-scale economic project will be implemented on the territory of the autonomy, which is unique for Ukraine. Crimea is to be the first territory where such a program of regional development will be tested," the speaker said.
He also did not rule out that Crimea could become "a locomotive for the economy of the whole of Ukraine."
"The most important thing is that concrete instruments for the implementation [of the program] were put forward at the meeting, which will be enacted by the president, and all of this will surely produce a result," he said.
"So the chances for this program are very good," Konstantinov added.
In turn, Crimean Prime Minister Vasyl Dzharty said: "We have clearly defined what we want to achieve within five, seven and ten years, have defined priorities for the development of Crimea."
