The Socialist Party of Ukraine (SPU) won't join any blocs or unions and will take part in the upcoming local elections independently, party leader Vasyl Tsushko has said.
"There are nearly 200 parties [in Ukraine], and at present there is no point in joining any unions. These are the same people who are switching from party to party and are not making any difference. We need people to unite around the idea," the SPU press service quoted Tsushko as saying.
He also said he does not believe in unions, especially before the elections, because "the ambitions are very large."
The elections to the Supreme Council of Crimea, regional, district, town and rural councils are scheduled for October 31, 2010.
