The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will convene for a special session on August 30, Olha Chorna, the press secretary of Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn, announced on Wednesday.
According to her, a relevant instruction of the Verkhovna Rada chairman is being prepared and his office has already received all of the necessary signatures of lawmakers for holding such a session.
She also said that the session's agenda would include three issues. MPs will consider amendments to the law on local elections and the law on state guarantees to return the deposits of Ukrainian citizens.
In addition, MPs will consider the implementation of measures to provide for the social welfare of citizens in the view of increasing tariffs for public utilities.
According to its schedule, the Verkhovna Rada was expected to start regular meetings on September 7 after the vacation period.
