Over 700,000 people visited the Sorochyntsi Fair in 2010, including over 400 foreigners, the press service of Poltava regional police department told reporters on Wednesday.
"There were about 250,000 visitors to the Sorochyntsi Fair on the first day, about 150,000 on the second and third days, about 130,000 on the fourth and fifth, and about 200,000 people visited the closing day. In total, over 700,000 people visited the Sorochyntsi Fair this year," the press service reported.
The police department noted that in spite of preventive measures, a range of administrative violations was registered, in particular, public drunkenness and drink driving, disorderly conduct, as well as violations of the veterinary legislation and the rules of trade and licensing conditions. No serious crimes were reported during the fair. Over 500 police officers maintained public order during the event.
