Head of the Presidential Administration of Ukraine Serhiy Liovochkin has said he is optimistic about the prospects of the Ukraine-Russia gas talks.
"Ukraine should fully utilize its gas transport system and provide itself with imported gas – these are the key priorities of the negotiation process," he told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
While not commenting on the course of the talks Liovichkin said: "we will resolve this issue and the decision will not contradict our national interests."
With regard to the best outcome for Ukraine he answered: "The best outcome is the maximum decrease in the gas price."
He also noted that during the talks Ukraine and Russian did not tackle the issue of RosUkrEnergo.
