Only 5.3% of Ukrainian citizens approve of President Viktor Yuschenko's work, while 90.7% have the opposite opinion, FOM-Ukraine Director General Oleksandr Bukhalov told a press conference at the Interfax office in Kyiv on Monday.
Bukhalov was referring to a poll carried out between February 1 and 11.
The agency polled 2,000 respondents in 160 towns and cities. The margin of error is under 2.2%, he said.
"I do not recall any [previous] rating of the kind," Bukhalov said. In January 2008, 34.8% approved of Yuschenko's work and 56% disapproved, he added.
Meanwhile, 31.1% of the respondents approve of Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko's work and 62.3% think the opposite. Her rating was 52.7% to 33.6% in January 2008.
Some 47.3% found it difficult to answer the question of who, given the option of the president or the prime minister, contributed most to political and economic stabilization. A total of 31.3% said it was the prime minister, 6% - the president, and 16.9% said both.
Some 35.7% found it difficult to say which politician could unite the Ukrainian people in the response to the world financial turmoil. Some 20.5% named Tymoshenko, 19.7% - Party of Regions leader Viktor Yanukovych, 9.7% - former Verkhovna Rada Speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk, 5.6% - Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn, 4.1% - Communist Party leader Petro Symonenko and 1.5% - Yuschenko.
