The Verkhovna Rada has refused to put on its Tuesday's agenda the issue of the withdrawal of Oleksandr Lavrynovych from the post of first vice-speaker.
A total of 209 MPs voted for this decision with the necessary minimum being 226. In particular, 151 members of the Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko faction, 32 members of the Our Ukraine - People's Self-Defense and 26 member of the Communist Party voted to include this issue in the agenda. Neither representatives of the Party of Regions nor the Bloc of Lytvyn took part in the voting.
Before this issue was considered, Lavrynovych reminded that last week 152 MPs put forwards the initiative of his withdrawal. According to the MP, the parliament's regulations stipulate that the MPs should vote on including this issue in the session's agenda no later that the next day of the parliament's plenary session after such initiative was introduced.
Lavrynovych was elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the list of the Party of Regions.
