The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, is to submit an inquiry from Bloc of Lytvyn faction leader Ihor Sharov to President Viktor Yuschenko regarding the activities of the respective state authorities as to freeing the crew of Faina cargo ship, which was seized and recently released by pirates, and the need to elaborate a system of measures aiming at preventing similar situations occurring again.
This initiative was approved by 351 votes of MPs on Friday.
Another inquiry from BYT faction member Valery Pysarenko will be sent by the parliament to the prosecutor general regarding opening a criminal case "in connection with the unauthorized self appointment of citizen of Ukraine Volodymyr Stelmakh as the head of the National Bank of Ukraine and willful neglect by Ukraine's president of a respective parliamentary decision on the NBU's activity during the financial crisis".
Another enquiry from BYT faction member Serhiy Osyka will be submitted to the Transport and Communications Minister as to the liquidation of a false monopoly at the International Boryspil Airport enterprise.
Other inquiries include one from Our Ukraine-People's Self Defense faction member Yuriy Karmazin, which will be submitted to the health minister, prosecutor general and the head of Kyiv city state administration. In his inquiry, Karmazin asks for checks on allegations of power abuse, misappropriation and embezzlement of state municipal property, the misapplication of budget funds, and corrupt practices by Kyiv city administration officials, and for respective measures to be taken.
